Habaneras sung
The Cantada de habaneras de Calella de Palafrugell, a musical event with roots dating back to 1966, is an annual celebration that brings together lovers of habaneras on the picturesque Costa Brava. It began as an informal meeting in a tavern and has evolved into a more formal Cantada in the Plaza del Port Bo. Calella de Palafrugell has become a benchmark for Havana, attracting various musical groups.
On the first Saturday in July, groups of singers gather in the square facing the sea to perform these popular songs that came to Catalonia with the help of sailors and Indians. This event has attracted up to 40,000 attendees and was broadcast live by various media outlets. The idyllic setting of Calella, with its white fishermen's houses, adds a special touch to the evening. The night culminates with a joint performance, often with "El meu avi" as the anthem, and continues in the local bars where the habaneras continue to play, accompanied by a cremat, a traditional drink based on coffee, rum and cane liquor.
Torroella International Music Festival

This classical music event brings together soloists, chamber ensembles, choirs, orchestras and musicians from diverse cultural traditions in unique settings such as the Solterra Palace, Plaza de la Vila and the Church of San Ginés.
In addition to the main concerts, the festival offers parallel activities such as silent film screenings with live music, instrumental improvement and chamber music courses, student concerts, the prestigious Jaume Aragall Singing Competition for Opera Voices and the Fringe space, which provides a platform to emerging artists.
